Which City for Children? — Derya İyikul in ISEC Lisboa e-book

SEC Lisboa has published Que Cidade para as Crianças? | Which City for Children? — Suggestions for Change, a bilingual e-book edited by Madalena Corte-Real, Maria João Gomes, and Marianna Monte. It follows the international conference of the same name, held at ISEC Lisboa on 17 October 2023 with Urbanólogo and under the UNESCO Chair A Cidade que Educa e Transforma, where Derya İyikul presented Urban95 on behalf of Superpool.

Her chapter, A Cidade para a Primeira Infância | The City for Early Childhood, argues that playgrounds should be allowed to change over time and be shaped by children's own play, and that streets, squares, and gardens must be counted as playable space alongside parks. It draws on Superpool's Urban95 work in Türkiye: the Playground Ideas for 0–3 Years guidebook from the Istanbul95 studies, the Sarıyer 0–3 playground, the HOP pop-up playground, Reading to Babies, and Open Street programmes with İBB, and the interim square implementations at Zümrütevler, Yalı, and Gebze.
