Talk at Salt Beyoğlu: Çerçöp
Selva and Gregers joined Ahmet Sertaç Öztürk and Emirhan Altuner at Salt Beyoğlu for a conversation on exhibition design and the afterlives of the things exhibitions leave behind.
The conversation at Salt Beyoğlu marked the opening of Çerçöp, a new Salt programme that turns the building's ground floor into a working production space.
The discussion centred on exhibition design and spatial transformation, returning to Superpool's work on Becoming Istanbul (Salt Beyoğlu, 2011) and Open Library (Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center, 2007) — projects whose display structures were built, taken apart, stored, and in many cases built again for something else entirely. Çerçöp follows precisely those trajectories: the plinths, shelves, and panels that accumulate in storage between exhibitions, and what it takes to bring them back into use rather than out to the skip.
The talk was free and open to all, and was followed by a series of production workshops led by Öztürk and Altuner running from 12 March to 11 April.
