Superpool joins Fællestegnestuen

Superpool has become a member of Fællestegnestuen — "the shared studio" — a Danish cooperative for people and businesses that shape the physical environment: planning, nature, landscape, architecture, design and craft.

Fællestegnestuen is organised as a multi-stakeholder cooperative federation: an association with limited liability whose members are companies, associations, self-employed practitioners and private individuals. Every member has one vote, whatever their size. It takes on no work of its own. What it does is make it possible for members to pool knowledge, share responsibility and economy, and bid on larger projects together — small practices, recent graduates, craftspeople, researchers and neighbourhood groups alike.

The commitments are plain: to work relationally rather than transactionally, place-specific rather than generic, circular rather than linear, cooperative rather than competitive, and within planetary boundaries.

The name is borrowed. Fællestegnestuen was an architecture practice in Denmark from 1961 to 1988, whose members included Tyge Arnfred and Viggo Møller-Jensen, and whose work includes Albertslund Syd, Farum Midtpunkt, Flexibo, Solbjerg Have and Sibeliusparken. The questions that practice asked — how, and with whom, do we shape our surroundings, and for whose benefit — are the ones the cooperative takes up again.
