Dhoku is a dedicated group lead by Mehmet Gureli producing contemporary rough-hewn, flat-weave rugs.
A collaboration with Dhoku to produce ‘a really good rug,’ is an attempt to understand an age-old tradition and to contribute to it with a careful sense of today.
The limitations the traditional flat-weaving brings on patterns are challenging; unlike designing carpets, anything is not possible. Therefore the process turns into a curious study of ourselves to develop designs where the limits are the human eyes and hand working with sheep yarn, giving it its best, to make a rug that finds its place today.
