Join us for an evening with Bureau Detours and Kenneth A. Balfelt who will share their insights to participation with urban communities through projects like "relocation of beer drinkers" and "basic anarchy for everyday use." We look forward to discussing how we engage our cities creatively.
BUREAU DETOURS
Bureau Detours is a creative organization with great interest in creating social environments in public spaces.They operate on various platforms in a mix of art, design, architecture and cityplanning. The key is, inspiring young and old to relate and bond with their city and neighborhood.
A diverse mix of disciplines like designers, craftsmen, architects and visual artists work together to solve the task ahead. Bureau Detours’ unique mix of disciplines, have created changes and surprises since 2006. Out of all these experiences a philosophy was created to construct urban studies and present design methods in scale 1:1 in the public space.
The bureau is mainly based in Denmark, it is however organized in small cells located in different European cities: Aarhus, Copenhagen and Kolding in Denmark, Oslo in Norway, Bordeaux in France and Rotterdam in The Netherlands. With every project in a new city, Bureau Detours aim to create a local department that will provide insight to the city, and will become their future allies.

KENNETH A. BALFELT
Kenneth A. Balfelt works in the field of ‘Socio-Political Context Related Functional Art’. He is concerned with how art can produce value and knowledge to society as well as research in alternatives structures that can work parallel to capitalism. He proposes a form of resistance that work from within, in a constructive manner that produces rather than criticize knowledge. He engages in a discourse of the politics of the social.
In Kenneth's own words:
"I often use the build form, architecture and design, as medias for forming social space. Also, I often work collaboratively as well as enter a local context. Community and love are often present! By making functional proposals or solutions I try to engage art as a paradigm as well as profession that can work directly with societal issues. But other aspects are also at play."
