bang. Prix 2019

bang. Prix, which is organized for the third time this year with the objective of supporting artistic productions having technological and scientific elements, will be exhibited at Studio-X Istanbul between June 14 and 29.

The program that ArtBizTech is the main sponsor, consists of application, mentoring and exhibition stages. The program also supports the works of young people working in the fields of bio-art, data art, kinetic art and new media.

This year’s artworks of the bang. Prix program were evaluated by the 2019 jury consisting of Agah Uğur, Borusan Holding Board Member; Bige Örer, Istanbul Biennial Director; Ekmel Ertan, from artist, curator and pedagogue as commonly known from Amber Platform; Asst. Prof. Elif Sürer who carries on studies at the Informatics Institute at the METU; Asst. Prof. Gözde Durmuş from the Genome Technology Center of Stanford University; and Ozan Türkkan, new media artist.

bang. Prix 2019 exhibition defines the lines of an experimental effort, and expects the audience to locate itself within the boundaries of “Hyper Text Markup Language” (a digital universe: html) in the infinite universe of the time and space. Audience imagines a network that forms the basis of the physical limitations of the universe as you walk through the data and new forms that circulate in a universe with knowledge of the present where the information is stored within the network. It determines the lines of an experimental effort. It deals with the logical form of the language as put forth by Wittgenstein combining it in a new setup. It moves away from normative rules as it follows the manifestation of its own reality. Each artist's authentic language focuses on the reality as well as the universe they imagine. At this point, artists create an organic language in their own spheres and in their own software, while focusing on their own worlds and transforming the unknown into the known. The language is a metaphor in the exhibition. It is a word on its own defining the form of being an essence in its sentence.”
